For our first year of beekeeping, we opted to start 6 hives with packages of Italian bees. 5 months later, 5 out of the 6 are thriving and we have harvested our first tastes of farm fresh honeycomb. Scattered colorfully around the lower pond, the bees have a lot of access to wildflowers in the fields around. They will help pollinate the fruits, herbs and veggies we grow as well as provide us with great honey to eat.
May 2016 - We are at around 20 hives on the farm. Honey supers are on for the spring nectar flow, queens are laying well and hives are strong and healthy. Looking forward to an excellent honey harvest in a few months time.
